Voiles d'Iroise created in 1989 by Jack Briois the President set itself the task of creating the opportunity to sail on traditional yachts for the young and not so young who were fascinated by the authenticity and beauty of these boats from another age. Neither sailing school nor charter, Voiles d'Iroise sailed with handicapped or diabetic children, teenagers from broken homes, people with a passion for old yachts or simply people attracted by the image of these sailing boats.

Hoisting sail, not an easy job for beginners!

THE PRESIDENT

Jack Briois

"In order to understand that we do not know it all, each one of us should push thier horizons further, learning of other events and peoples exploits. We should all, at least once in our lives be adventurous.

When life and death are in the balance, internal silence is replaced by a spontaneous reaction which by being right or wrong will decide the fate of a man.

It is an empassioned shiver, an exalted determination which brings us into communication with our universe and allows permanent evolution and instant happiness.

Adventure is a pathway which leads from the heart."

"Jéromine Pasteur "

OUR ACTIONS

An enormous budget is necessary in order to run the shipyard and rebuild a yacht such as Minahouet. We raise funds for the association by running a grilled fish and chips stand which is present at most of the nautical shows and summer fêtes. Our members supply a large amount of different objects including marine and nautical antiquities for our second hand or "antiques" stand.

OUR FISH AND CHIPS STAND

The stand is put up

chips are served

Jack shows Leo how to cook accras

The cook serves a delicious entrecôte

A smile from a voluntary worker welcomes the clients

Benedicte turns a crêpe over

Olivia learns how to clean sardines

and gets on with the job!

Paul prepares a portion of accras

The first clients have their meal

SECOND HAND SALES

The latest sale took place in Caudan (56), Voiles d'Iroise participated

The van was filled

Our lady treasurer placed the objects

and the treasure hunters arrived

From cups and saucers

to old nautical objects

Most of the objects are donated by members of the Association. After cleaning and repair they are the delight of antique hunters who help to fill the till which unfortunately is often in deficit !

Some of these objects can be found in the shop!
